Frequently Asked Questions…

What days and times are you open?

We are open to clients Wednesdays and Fridays between 12pm and 5pm, and Saturdays/Sundays between 9am to 3pm. We use Tuesdays and Thursdays to give the horses a professional ride or exercise depending on each horses’ needs.

Does Kilham Farm have an open lesson program?

Currently, we do not offer a lesson program. We are open to horse owners and those who are half-leasing or full-leasing a horse or pony. If this is something you are interested in, please be sure to email or give us a call and we can discuss details.

Does Kilham Farm offer private lessons?

At this time we currently do not offer private lessons. Lessons allow up to 6 riders per group. Group lessons are great! They allow riders to learn from others while strengthening their own skills. We typically ask students ride in a time slot with others who are at a similar experience level.

Do you offer trail rides?

We do not offer trail rides.

Is the facility open for drop-in visits?

We don’t encourage drop-in visits to our facility. We have a lot of horses and other animals on the property so it is best you have someone with you from our staff during a visit. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us and schedule a time to come by if you are interested in joining our program.

Do you have to compete at horse shows?

Our barn has no requirement to attend horse shows. We are very competitive and have many shows on our schedule but also go to schooling shows, which are a great introduction to showing if a rider ever became interested in competing.

What are Kilham Farm’s rates?

Please send us an email inquiry and we can send you an up-to-date rate sheet.

How long are lessons?

Lessons are on average about 35 to 50 minutes long. The length can vary depending on several factors, some of which are weather, rider experience, horse soundness/health and more.

Do you have to own a horse to ride at Kilham Farm?

No. We have horses and ponies available for half-lease or full-lease options. Our leases are in-barn only and we have a wide variety of options for different rider experience levels.

What discipline of riding does Kilham Farm focus on?

Kilham Farm focuses on Hunters, Jumpers and Eq style riding. We do not offer training in other disciplines.

How do you schedule lessons?

We use the website Equilesson for lesson signups. You can find a link to our Equilesson page in the ‘Contact’ tab here on the website, which will bring you to a registration page for Kilham Farm. Please do not register on Equilesson until you have chatted with us about our program and/or visited the farm.

Is your barn available for boarding only?

You must be in training to board at Kilham Farm, unless you have a retired horse that will go in pasture-board only.
